California, August 2005

I had the opportunity to go to San Diego for a conference and so took a few extra days as holiday. This was my first visit to California. Having spent 5 days in San Diego for my conference I went inland to visit the desert areas. I stayed 2 nights at Borrego Springs and explored the Anza-Borrego State Park and Salton City. I then went to Ventura for a whale-watching trip, and spent my final day in the Santa Monica mountains, especially the Malibu Creek State Park.
